31 (tie). North Dakota

For every 1,000 residents in North Dakota, there are 9.5 guns. That's 6,863 registered firearms dispersed among 723,393 people.

I think they are a little light with their numbers. We have approximately 100,000 people apply for a rifle tag and I would suspect most of them own at least 1 firearm. Hell at their numbers I own enough guns to cover 3,368 residents myself. I would bet just the guys on this site have a combined total that is above the 6,863 registered guns

District of Columbia # 2 - 66.4 / 1000
Wyoming # 1 195.7 / 1000

That's a fine piece of investigative journalism.

Yeah, I don't know what this registered thing is. But in this house there is an 11 to 6 ratio. Know several more house that are much higher. Actually, cant think of a household without a firearm.

9/2 in my house. Only one was bought from a dealer in ND. Does that mean its 'registered'? One was bought from a pawn shop in WY, but I had a SD address at that time. Every other gun was either given to me, or bought from someone.

BTW I'm glad the data is skewed. After reading a little closer, it says there are less than 7000 registered guns in ND. I'll bet there are more than 7000 guns in Mandan alone LOL. What the hell is a registered gun in ND? How and where would you even 'register' it.

There is no registered guns except full autos or short barrel rifles or shotguns etc. When we call in a background check, they only ask the type of firearm (long gun, handgun, other). They don't know the make, model, serial #, color, type of stock, length of barrel, weight, caliber, gage, capacity, open sights, scope mount incl., fluted barrel, chrome lined barrel. etc. etc.

Yep, here's what the article says about the numbers,

Here is a look at per capita weapons data, based on the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and 2013 data from the U.S. Census.

While the ATF's National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record is the only accessible list of its kind, it is not all-inclusive. NFA firearms only include the categories regulated by The National Firearms Act of 1934: machine guns, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, suppressors, destructive devices like bombs and grenades, concealable devices with the ability to discharge a shot through the energy of an explosive, and any firearm with a bore over half an inch that has not been determined to have a legitimate sporting use.

So we 6800 machine guns, short barrel rifles/shotguns and suppressers. I would bet over 50% are suppressers

Key part being "registered guns". How many of us have guns that aren't registered? Bought at gun shows, handed down from our fathers/grandfathers, etc? I think if they actually did a survey for how many guns are in this state, those leftists would put ND at the top of the list for gun confiscation.

H82bogey I know one old fellow who passed away and when they had his auction he had 70 guns all bought before 1968. An old native American that was our neighbor had at least a dozen guns that were pre 1900. Mostly octagon barrel lever actions. One time they caught him selling deer and the judge took his gun away. He thought that was hilarious. I guess the judge thought it was 1850 and an Indian only had one gun. Actually that's what Johnny himself said.

I have 2 registered guns in my house. If push comes to shove they can come get those two, I will willingly give the others up........one bullet at a time, and they will still need to pull my firearms from my dead lifeless hands. GOOD LUCK OBAMA AND HILARY!

If the queen gets in there, that might be the reality! I don't have any guns that need to be registered. But I have a lot that I bought at big box stores. I've heard they are supposed to destroy those records after a certain amount of time, but I doubt it really happens. We're all on a list somewhere. Once they get our guns, it's all downhill from there.
