Ok what is the recommendation for new cell phone on android platform?
Currently have Samsung Galaxy S4( I know ancient) … I generally have it in a low end otterbox for protection…what’s a good durable phone that may not need a case on the market now-a-days?

…I could probably do some internet research but I would like some real world examples and experiences…

If your looking to get away from bulky otterbox cases I suggest looking at life proof. I know a few guys that have them and really like them, I have no personal experience though.
I still have a Galaxy S3 for a personal and a S4 for a work phone.

Not sure how they hold up to being dropped, but the new S7 are water resistant. Now they just need to make a app that will bring them back up threw a whole in the ice.

I dont know what the marshmellow update did to your phones --- but my note 4 battery life went to $hit. I wouldnt buy a samsung until they get this fixed. My kids 7 was impacted too.

Samsung S7 Edge. And amazingly I haven't broke the screen on it yet. Think I went thru 4 or 5 of the samsung 5s with the crappy glass screens.

Just picked this one up a couple weeks ago, so far so good. I really like how similar it is to my S5 so I didn't have to learn a new set up. I put a new slim style otter box on it, very unobtrusive.

My iPhone 5 took a quick swim the other day. The otterbox did it's job. It survived but I was most likely just lucky.

Buy all my phones off ebay unlocked, my last one was a brand new in the box not refurbished Motorolla for $98 shipped.
I could care less if its not the latest and greatest. It takes micro sd cards, has a bunch of internal memory. And the best thing is that I'm not making $40 a month payments to verizon for it. And it still fits my Phonescope! :)

I have the old contract that allows for unlimited data, so I have bought my last two phones off of Ebay. Their last offer to upgrade(downgrade) my phone and plan included 2 ipads and a free phone. I think they can take those 2 ipads and put them somewhere dark when I drive down the road and stream whatever I want all day every day.

I am on my third iphone.

p.s. Rum makes old blue hairs feel bucky.

p.p.s. My point being age has nothing to do with choosing operating systems... It's IQ. #$%^&>

Android pissed me off when the kitkat version was released. It turned my phone (which worked great) into the biggest piece of shit. I know what the issue is and it wasn't due to apps running.

I still have the phone but will be getting a new one soon. I've been very tempted to accidentally drop it over the side of the boat or run it over.

Am I the only one that can't stand the size these phones are growing too? Sorry but I don't want a "phablet" to make a damn phone call.

Haven't decided what I'll be going with next. leaning towards the iphone myself.
