Vikes are notorious at picking long shots, some have been hall of fame and possible future. Randy moss and all day come to mind both had some ups and downs in their college years. Percy harvin again was a long shot since he had surgery that kept his game limited in final season with the gators, percy wasnt even a high draft option because he tested positive for mj, but the vikes picked him anyways after finding out he was self medicating for migraines, atleast that was my understanding of the matter.

Draft is so full of hyped up players that never pan out, some that do, and a ton of talent in later rounds no one has ever heard of. I don't get excited or disappointed like I used to - let it play out because, well, who knows how these guys will perform at the next level. JJ McCarthy vs Adam Thielen for example.

Broken foot and three games. Nice. We really need OL help, specifically a game experienced center. The guy ranked 5th at the center position is Connor Lew from Auburn and he is recovering from an ACL. He will probably fit right in.

Seems like we've been pleading for OL help since the days of Steve Hutchinson..
I definitely would have preferred the obvious choice of the bear's new safety over another darrisaw-type oft injured gamble. Super risky pick for new/interim gm nonetheless.

If they could draft defensive players like they draft wr's we'd be in good hands so it seems.

You guys didnt know that the vikes lost both dt to free agency and we still have some picks left sheesh guys
No shit. Do you know there were other defensive tackles available, all rated higher, and none that weigh 327#'s and keep breaking their foot? He can play inside and end, but can he do it from here...

Meh most free agents who weren't looking for a big contract or in their 30s weren't worth their salt, you can be a debby downer all you want but i believe that vikes have been pretty lucky with long shot top 10 prospects in the past. We will have to see and as both of us being vikes fan we will both have to agree that if he does well he will be a nightmare for o lines.

And the Bears take the center from Iowa we should have. Fourteen years since the Vikings have had a Pro Bowl offensive lineman and 17 years since they have had an All Pro offensive lineman.

At least they didn't pick a Mandarich type lineman in the first round like the Packers did years ago.
And Barry Sanders was available at the time of the Mandarich pick.
Rhetorical Didn't Sanders win the Heisman trophy two years? I do believe.

Well apparently the vikes didnt think so , lots of players waved still not signed in free agency. Apparently since they fired the old general manager who picked heavy on the offense in the 3 years BF has been with the vikes. I believe that this is the year that bf gave the vikes an ultimatum you let me pick some talent with some size for my defense or i walk. CB was the first dt taken in the 26 draft where many agreed he would be top 10 picks if he wasnt hurt. People can speculate why till they drink them self into a stuper ,the intern gm pushed all in on this pick as well as the picks that bf felt were the best left on the table.
