Pics did these no justice, the clouds of green above the main aurora were pulsating and moving from north to south as if shot out of an ar laser gun it was pretty rapid and cool to watch!

Was photographing to the north when I looked to the west and saw this! Pics did it no justice as it looked like an Aurora rainbow going right above my head to the east horizon!

Nice pics. The first time i ever saw that high speed strobing it was a bit freaky realizing just how violently the sun actually rips on our atmosphere. Definitely cool to see the lights go on past you and to cover the whole sky instead of just being a green glow to the north.

I have seen more spectacular northern lights, but what makes these spectacular 5575 is your a good photographer and know how to make a picture stand out. :;:thumbsup on your photography. The calm reflective water and bright stars on the last photo really add to the grandeur.

Where did you take these, please?

I live in South Bismarck, so often times (at home) don't see them. Looking north, too much light pollution. About a year ago though, they knocked my socks off, south of town. I actually drove down to the Cottonwood Softball fields and they were stunning.

As you say however, pics really don't do them justice.. I usually just sit back and enjoy them, rather than trying to capture them. You did a great job, as said above.

Love seeing them over the river, with snow on the banks, in the late fall while wading.

I took them west of Bismarck.
What's crazy is that they were going nuts on the 29th of sept in 2016 also!

If you ever want to get your mind blown by night time Nodak photography look at anything Marshall Lipp out of Bismarck has done! He does great work with weather shots as well. If you have Facebook click this link and enjoy!

Huh, this is funny. Was just talking with a coworker this morning, and she was talking about Marshall Lipp. He DOES do great work. Another one I discovered this summer, is Zachary Hargrove, out of Bismarck. He's on faceook too, and his site is FuriousSkies something or other. Great local pics!!
