Bees don’t sting unless you’re an asshole to them first and honey is awesome. Wasps can burn in hell they bring nothing useful to the world
When I worked for the bee keeper he pretty much never wore gloves when we worked the yards. It always interested me watching him work through a hive and rarely get stung.

When black bears show up now, they are like large racoons.
Beat me to it. Black Bear = 100#-400# Raccoon. They can get into more stuff and make a bigger mess than raccoons do. Producers of hone, oats, corn, and sunflowers will no doubt find any bear that's "moved in" somewhere between a nuisance and a doggone menace.

Regarding actual danger from black bears, they're like lots of critters, mostly not a big deal unless you surprise or corner them. The obvious danger everyone pretty much knows about is getting between momma and cubs. I bet during harvest a bear chased out of crops can be pretty irate if they're then chased out of whatever sanctuary they find by hunters and/or their hunting dog

I don't mind knowing there's a bit more "wild" on the prairie, but then, my opinion hardly counts as living in town, I don't have to deal with them daily, or really ever. Save for kind of sneaking up on a bear by accident hunting ruffs in MN on a windy day, I can't recall ever having seen a bear unless I was hunting bears.

Have to edit the above. I've seen bears in Ont. and AB while fishing and hunting moose. More accurately, I've never really seen bears where one wouldn't expect to see bears. Even sunrise/sunset cruises out looking @ deer in NW MN or driving for work across much of central/northern MN I've never seen a bear. Wolves, Fishers, and Otters, never a bear.

I planted 40 acres of hulless oats one year and by fall I noticed a spot that was laying flat on the ground couldn't find any tracks or crap , a co-worker thought it was a bear , he said they sit down in an oats field and use the paws to pull the grain to thier mouth. It went from about 20 foot circle to double size by a few days later then I found coon crap . Drove out at night with my lights off and turned them on when I got there. I've never saw so many coons at one time in my life.

Never been as asshole to them whether working on the tractor In field or working road construction on county highways for 5 summers during hs and college.. Theyre the f-in assholes and playing softball with swollen 3x swollen up hand and arm was quite comical tho.
Putting bee boxes right off the f-in road like they used to is f-in stupid and should be criminal, there I said it

Used to visit friends in Tisdale Saskatchewan, would get a chuckle when you drove into town as they had a sign that read, Tisdale, the land of rape and honey.

Damn 5 summers I got 23 years and not stung once and boxes all over along the river here. 6 of those were paving in North Dakota across the whole state. You know the difference between honey bees and wasps right?

Sure AF do! Trap wasps every fall and never bothered by them, just annoying at times.. Honeybee stings don't feel good ill say that. Not getting in a pissing match with someone who's never wrong in their own mind about my own personal life f-ing experiences.

5yrs working with bees and I probably got stung 3 time inside a bee yard, majorityof my bee stings came from workingaround the shop. Running tractor while haying (no cab or cab with no windows or doors), various survey and construction projects have been stung 2 times by honey bees over 30yrs. Wasp and hornets can piss off.
Now depending on where guys winter their bees it can happen that they get some from Texas or California that come back with mean temperament, a lot of guys send bees to California for the almond growers but can't remember the reasoning fir Texas besides warmer and less winter kill.

Last time I got stung by any of the above was stretching out on the game field before a High School Football game, I graduated in '93.

I think they're hornets that on really dry years will get into a crack in the dirt and under the concrete leading to my front door. A length of surgical tubing (you can buy the latex stuff off rolls @ home improvement stores) on the end of a can of wasp/hornet killer run down the crack late evening and a generous amount sprayed into the hole usually fixes it quickly. On occasion I'll add a bit of topsoil or even spray-foam down the hole.
