Must be a thousand miles if pipe just off the interstate next to Richardton there has to be some sort of pipeline going somewhere, they have been adding to it for a year or more. Big pipe, a couple feet or more in diameter.
Saw that a few weeks back. Impressive sight!

Just like you laughed and called me crazy when things were going good I said the industry won't support high oil prices very long. I take it you are too young to remember the days when they filled the mud tanks with tooling and cut new rigs into pieces and hauled them to Porter Brothers.

We import more than half of the oil we consume in the US. For once, (Don't call me an obama lover) I agree with Obama on his decision against the Keystone XL, He just made up a different reason rather than to tell it the way it is, Maybe that was a good thing. We all read and hear about Bakken this and Bakken that but when you look at the big picture it's simple economics of supply and demand, We just get caught up in all the hype here in ND.

Yea, Nobody was a bold statement in today's times, But give it a few years or one more nasty train wreck whichever comes first. Those links should open your eyes to your surroundings. North Dakota best be building refineries and pipelibes of our own because nobody else is going to take care of us.
it's all about price not about the oil itself.

As far as I know, that is being staged for the Dakota Access Pipeline, which is also currently held up. The pipeline is supposed to originate in Stanley, go west to Williston, turn south to Dickinson and then its a straight shot to Illinois.

Also A new one being laid from from Alex to Fairview and another planned in conjunction that will carry Bakken oil to Chicago. Any new Bakken pipeline is better news than the Keystone in my opinion.

Eye, For east coast purchase agreements it's all about the 10-12 $ per Bbl to ship by rail and the consequences involved. No more free reading from WSJ , That sucks but I think that's the article where it went into detail.

i believe not pushing for our own energy independence is a mistake, unless we have an ace in the hole...

russia is now at least effecting the middle east, and cozying up to china...

canada will now be listening to offers from our enemies...

this couldn't be any easier for our enemies, as we are incrementally isolating ourselves...

those rail prices are just as negotiable as fracing, drilling, etc.

A train derailed on the Mississippi River today. North of La Crosse. Luckily no oil. But you better believe that the anti's will jump on this. Lots of sconi's and Minnesotans against oil.

Never understood why you would pump the best crude on earth with the worst.
They ship the different crude types in separate batches so they never mix

Here is the thing. Bakken light sweet oil doesn't compete with the oil sands crude. They are two separate commodity types and have different supply and demand. Keystone would have only helped Bakken producers.

They have different compositions and make slightly different amounts of various refined products. Refineries are set up to use a certain composition of crude such as light sweet or heavy crude. Most of the refineries connected to Bakken crude or similar are pretty much maxed out on the amount they can process. This is why the price is lower because the demand is lower than the supply. Historically the Midwest refineries were expanded to take in the heavy crude but with the drastic increase of shale oil we are seeing some refineries upgrade their distillation trains to use more light crude because of lower prices and bigger margins. Any pipeline only helps the consumer no matter what it transports. Consumers lose and some companies will win big.

Another railroad spill in Wisconsin today. This is not good. The railroad is going to put a big wrench in the works if they keep having derailments.

Railroad problem. Trouble is the railroad is the main hauler of the oil.

Let us all not forget that not only did we elect this King once....but evidently we weren't smart enough and he got reelected. Way way way too many people who didn't think voting matters so sat on their hands and figured..what difference does it make?
