Atleast it sounds like everybody was OK.

Calling out a dive crew to pull it out. I wonder if the owner actually ends up paying for it and what it costs?

Looks like everybody walked away from it.

Why would you need a dive team to retrieve it? Some grade 70 chain, a 9000-12000 pound winch, some anchor points for the winch truck and 'pop' out it comes.

I just can't wrap my head around this stuff happening. How do you not check the ice thickness?? Heck even mid winter I get leery and need to get out every once and awhile, especially if I'm on virgin ground.

Yeesshh...some people

Been around these crazy folks for years, someone always pushes the envolope, truck is a total loss, most often a salvage crew has a block-n-tackle setup to pull these rigs out, cost can very from $2k to $5k from years past depend on how deep of water, some counties call the DNR in which case there can be charges for pollution in these lakes which depend s on how long the rigs were down, longer they are under thge toll goes up daily.Contacted an insurance company when one of my customers lost a brand new 2500HD one year, agent said because my guy accessed the lake via resort and paid a fee to use the road they maintained the loss was covered, goin cross country like this idiot he isn't covered.
