I dabble in the training, breeding world a bit. I run dogs now that I selectively bred that are a mix of British and American. (not english) They are fantastic. High bird drive but so easy going and have the proper standard looks. Not too bulky stocky and not too pointy nose-curly tail thing. Good looks, high prey drive and extremely biddable. British are generally smaller than american labs. British will be shorter and stockier but not overly big. 50-70lbs. American labs with be taller, leaner and probably 60-85lbs. I'm talking from true british breeders and true american breeders. I like the mix because I feel the british dogs can be too small and the american too big. Right now I have 3 labs. One is retired, one is mostly american with little brit in him and hes a hammer! I also have a young female that is pretty much full mix. She is little...55lbs but very well built. Very good bird dog but not quite as good as my more american male. True bits do not point. There are a ton of pointing lab breeders out there now. Coteau View Hills kennels is in my area with very good pointers. High Caliber labs near Sioux falls has exceptional ones too. None cheap.
