I enjoyed the end of the Pittsburgh/Cincinnati football game and accidentally witnessed some of the local news in Little Minneapolis. They showed lines of people out the door and around the block to buy lottery tickets. Hoards of people crossed state lines and came from Canada to have a chance at $900,000,000, despite the fact that their statistical chances are 1 in 292,000,000.

I'm happy to say I haven't lost a single lottery. It's no surprise that the American public tolerates new taxes and the printing of money when you see this kind of response. Millions and millions of people climbing over each other to throw money away for no reason.

maybe instead of spending that money on lottery tickets day after day, year after year, use it to buy contraceptives and birth-control so we don't have jail the Little Sisters of the Poor for not giving it to their employees for free.

We're going to have another dictator-in-chief and we did it to ourselves. #Hitlery2016

Not long ago, their was a bit of unnecessary tension in my office. My boss had been fielding a fair amount of complaints from my counterparts. In a private meeting, she asked, "is there anything you need, Slim?" I thought about it and told her "paper clips. Otherwise, you just keep giving me money and I'll keep coming to work." What a concept: I just show up and they give me money!!! And all these fools throw away what little money they have on 1 in 292,000,000 chances. I win every time I show up for work.

I play the lotto from time to time, not regularly but when I feel like stimulating the economy a little. what I cant seem to figure out though is why people go nuts when the jackpot is 900 million? is 200 million not enough to get off your couch for? I don't get it, its all life changing money if you would happen to win so why does a few extra million that they aren't going to win anyways make retards out of people.

I was in the Petroserve yesterday and started talking with the clerk, she said a guy came in and bought $2000 worth of tickets. He told them he had spent $2000 on tickets at two other locations before he came to them... for a grand total of $6000 on lottery tickets.

I may buy 2 or 3 lottery tickets/year. I look at it as cheap entertainment at $2 a shot.

I'll waste my money on lottery tickets before I support Hollywood and going to a movie at $10/seat and $10 for popcorn.

The best part is no one won. Usually all the combinations are taken and several people win, but I read this time that only 75% of the combinations were taken. Seems odd to me. They think the next drawing will be 1.5 billion or more.

On a related note, public lotteries were one of America's earliest methods of raising funds for the new government. George Washington signed lottery tickets himself.

My girlfriend works at a convenience store and there were more people that bought 50 tickets than people that bought 1. Some of those are people who really can't afford it.

I play once in a while when it isn't too high or too low and just one ticket so I can have the dream. If a person won one of these high-dollar pots they would never be able to escape the publicity. I might give away some money but my policy would be that if you asked me for it you aren't getting any.

I bought a lottery ticket didn't win. Glad I don't live life in a constant state of nuclear meltdown.

Can't help it. I was born an angry old man, like Steve Martin was born a poor black child.

I don't buy 'em very often, I probably will this time though. It'd be fun to challenge Mr. Dillon for the largest full-auto collection in private hands.

How in the world can that many tickets be sold and no one won?
Seems like the computer is programmed for the pots to get exceptionally large.

we play a few bucks a week on the lottery. I am beginning to think that I have a better chance at winning the powerball than getting a deer tag in ND. One plus if (lol) I win is that North Dakota allows you to remain anonymous.

Whoever wins won't have any other choice. Half goes to .gov

If I take the cash and its at 1.3b the cash award is 806 million
After all taxes taken out....it'll be 572,340,600 left
I'd give out 250,000,000 and keep the rest.
