No deer tag this year, was hoping to get in a few good bird shoots on opening weekend before they pass through. Not looking good now. Add that to the minimal pheasants in the area this year, it's making for a pretty shitty fall for me so far. My bc/BS 2018 premium estimate came in the mail yesterday too, which was another kick in the nuts. Probably snow a foot on top of 4 inches of ice too. Dammit. Oh, and new puppy thinks her kennel is the shitter. Sorry for the complaining, one of those days.

Should be ice fishing by Thanksgiving at this rate. I'll probably fall through.

That being said Rusty, we should be able to walk out on Scooby by the following weekend? Maybe even the north bays on Audubon?

I'm going to try scooby on sat or sunday... aud is big enough where it takes a bit for it to freeze... also the wind will play into it as well... the ramp at 3mi will freeze first

Gotcha...did pretty well last year on Scooby...south side was better for me. Seemed like guys got their Ice Castles on that north shore and left them there all winter.

Hey 3geese...hope all is well in the sandbox...stay safe! No pike in Scooby...that I am aware of. There is another smaller pond further east that has been stocked with pike.

Understand exactly how you feel 3geese! When I stepped off the plane in Oman in 2002 it was 122 degrees...didn't start cooling off nice until late November. And when I say cooling off, I mean highs only in the upper 80's! Another good pike spot to ice fish is Buffalo Lodge Lake by Granville...some walleye in there as well.

Went thru all the ice fishing gear today...opened the flip over, cleaned everything, auger started on the third pull! Buddy heater started right up, put fresh line on all the ice rods...guess all we need now are cold nights! Anyone think next weekend will be a go?

Looking at the extended weather forecast it looks like there is some warmer weather coming. Then again that could change a million times. I’m gonna predict thanksgiving weekend. Or at least I hope that soon.

ndfinfan this was at the Tioga Dam. It isn't very deep so I think it might freeze over a little soon then a lot of other places.

Went out to Sweetbriar yesterday to chase some birds. The creek areas were frozen solid but the main lake was ice free.

I've drove from Williston to Dickinson to Bismarck to Turtle Lake and haven't seen a single lake froze over. Hopefully soon though!

Just hate the lull between open water and ice fishing...I don't hunt! For sports fans kinda like the time between when the NBA playoffs end and football begins...nothing to watch but baseball and golf!

I don't know if that's a good comparison. Aren't the NBA playoffs like the Olympics, they aren't over but every 4 years !
