Devils lake. Thoughts with this warm spell? I would like to leave it. But, if we dont have a significant cool down after this week i think the edges and access might be in rough shape so that i wont be able to safely drive out with the truck to get it.

Forecast says temps in the 40s with wind and rain and night time temps above freezing till middle of next week, That would scare me. I saw a few inches of water on the ice last week where you drive on at the casino , Thee was a lot of dirt tracked on the ice so That spot might be getting a little spooky already. If I wasn't around to keep an eye on things I'd probably pull it for a week and then decide if I was going to put it back out. Depends where your driving on the lake and if dirt/ sand/salt from roads got tracked on the ice.

i drove from williston to dl and back yesterday and saw some water sitting on top of slough ice and snow between minot and home... saw nothing too spooky looking east of minot... went east of watford today and saw water running in the ditches and the fields, and i would not walk across the missouri south of williston tonight...

based on my past 2 days i'd say dl prolly ok yet, but western sak - no...

Western Sak is a definite pull at this point, the Yellowstone is rising and water is a coming in.

I would also pull on every other little body of water in the southern 7/8 of ND as well. But that's just me, I hate falling through the ice.

I drove out on Metigoshe South Lake yesterday. A couple hundred yards down the trail I found 3 freshly drilled holes and fished them for a couple hours, Not even a nibble. Didn't set up flasher to see if there were fish around. Turned around and went home, Still way to much snow for a Ford.

Pushed a wake behind the truck today as I left the lake. Made me a little more than nervous driving through 6 inches of water on top of the ice. The landing at the lake I was on had almost 2 ft of water around it. Won't see my truck back on the ice any more this year. It's walk on or nothing for this guy. BE SAFE FELLAS!! No fish is worth taking a bath for.

Ice fishing in southwest ND might be over for the year. Heard of a couple of heves from heavy ice due to lots of snow then a bunch of water running in on top of the ice. Heard that lake water was running up out of the ice. That's ok. The prairie dogs are out!:;:muahaha

Went out of long creek today for some pike action. Glad I did not take house. Ice is iffy. lots of water on top. 18 to 20 inches but auger did not even slow down. I'm done except for walking. Long Creek is in Williams County.

Yeah ice is getting nasty. Sunk the four wheeler in some slush yesterday on a lake in central nd...was able to get it out in reverse fairly easy but made me nervous for a little while! Wanted to go today but decided against it. Cleaned up this winters collection of dog bombs and did some other yard work instead.

Think we have a lot of winter left but if it gets cold again there's gonna be a lot of lakes with sink holes everywhere. One I was at today had about 50yards of open water off the access. Was able to get on with the house off to the side but even the ice was soft drilling
