I wont i will just apply here and not use any points to get a cow tag. ND big game draws are dog shit all the way around getting to hunt mule deer once every 7 years would suck donkey balls
we screw ourselves every chance we get no doubt and by ourselves I mean the actual residents.

Then don't apply. That is what I am doing... not applying because I want the bull tag someday.
Some of you guys would bitch if the NDGF said the sky was blue.

If they didn't make these leftover cow tags a once-in-a-lifetime tag, your odds would be worse than drawing the bull tag in the regular draw. You would have 20,000 people applying for 10 tags. Then guess what... cue the complaining AGAIN on Nodakangler.
Are you new here? ...duel...

The issue with north dakota is that the majority of the elk will or are on private land, same issue as other states like Wyoming. That land owners will be charging to hunt on their land if those who get a tag.

I guess from my experiences in western ND I see a lot of elk on public land.

I should have quoted the article that CatDaddy posted about then my post would be referring to unlimited elk tags and i am not familiar with western north dakota elk herds but i can pretty much guarantee that, give those elk a few years, with lots more hunters, to realize that if i go to these particular piece of land i wont get shot at.

You have to burn your prairie unit points here to get one of those tags. Not worth it when you have a chance at a true 400” bull west river .

Step#1
Land owner with an over abundance of elk eating his crops/ hay.

Every year, he gets bombarded with calls when the tags are announced asking permssion to hunt from someone with a lifetime license (usually gonna be a bull tag).
He usually grants permission.

#2. As the years go by, he starts to realize that 1 bull killed ain't doing shit about his crop damage and usually end up costing him some $/ time asking to help with retrieval.
#3, call comes in bout this time of the year asking permission to hunt from someone that drew an elk tag, farmer asks, did you apply for a left over cow tag?, no says the caller, I only apply for a bull tag.
#4, FUCK OFF!.
