But do they catch fish ?

Have you ever noticed more production from rattled lures VS regular ? I haven't used rattles all that much but nothing sticks out in my mind as far as rattles catching more fish. Have You noticed a difference ? Do they help in murky water ?

Those rattley live targets sure work choice up on windy Winnipeg, kind of a necessary item, however we caught some on big blades too.

I have seen a difference both ice fishing and soft water. I have seen it where fish want something with a rattle and other times they want it without.

Definitely noticed it on lures and in front of me in real life. Well doing underwater yard maintenance at my parents place as soon as you start clunking rocks together it's like ringing the dinner bell and fish will stream in from the depths and sit off to the side and watch. Any sound like that will draw fish towards your bait from out of the visual range that would normally be the limiting factor on a fishing lure and that's definitely a good thing.

I read one time that there is no proof that a fishes lateral line actually senses vibration. I thought that was a bit strange since so many lures are advertised as appealing to a fishes lateral line. I personally think fish rely on their sight a lot more than we are led believe. I have heard about rocks being clacked together draws fish in according to scuba divers. So they must have some sense of hearing.

Trying to think of crankbaits/plugs that I have used that did not rattle and can only think of original rapalas and bang o lures. The bang o lures we used the most though had a prop on back, smallies loved them. I prefer rattles even though I have no proof they out produce, other than what the lure salesman tells me.

Its all about confidence. Even if there is no proof that they work as long as you think they work, they will.

This guy's have thousands of dollars worth of tackle and they put the same thing out every time just cause they have caught fish with it. I am guilty of it more than once.

I shook the shit out of a minnow last night and couldn't hear a thing. So I added one of those clear rattling things to the minnow. It made his eyes bug out and he didn't swim very well afterwords, but..........................
