The summer catfish bite is on. Numbers are very good and even some bigger fish mixed in. The best part is when the fish hit the bait they mean it which is a great improvement from the picking and pecking with the hopes of a bite.

With water temperatures in the 85-degree area, the fish are holding more to deeper water. I have been finding them in deeper faster water. It seems when you get to a spot you will get a quick one or two then nothing for a bit before the last ones take off. The bigger fish are later in the sit most of the time. Give spots a solid amount of time 25-35 minutes to make sure you get the fish you are looking for.

All baits appear to be working. I have been using the two-day dead sucker and frozen sucker interchangeably (keep frozen until use).

It looks like more heat in the forecast for the next week or so.
