I have asked, multiple times, for people to be civil in their conversations. That has gotten worse and worse. Going forward, the following will be expected:
be respectful and civil
stay on-topic
avoid posting spam or illegal content
refrain from personal attacks or harassment
no hate speech, democrats, or discrimination
no trolling, or intentionally provoking arguments or creating unrest within the forum

There will be little leniency, with this, going forward. Consequences will include being muted, long term timeouts, and/or being banned. (this includes the politics section)

These rules have been updated as of Sept. 19 2025.
Fixed it...

is there a way that anything under the political thread would not update when you hit the "whats new" tab?

They are going to be removed, for now, along with the main page sidebar that showed recent political posts. If the community can improve how we have these conversations I will consider bringing them back. As for now, the political conversations will remain in the political section without a recent activity sidebar, and without their posts in the "what's new".

That sounds perfect and dont worry about the response as i have used the ignore feature and it makes it a lot more enjoyable around here.

Good for you @Kurtr, truly, because you've found a way to still be an active contributing member, but he's still got to read 'em, unfortunately, and for some reason I'm just not a fan of the ignore feature...

And thanks for the update @Vollmer. I've been so close to not visiting this website on so many occasions recently because people just can't hold it together anymore. It's tough to see on an outdoors site.

Whatever V does i support 💯 i can go with the flow, i as well use the ignore feature since im more prone to be triggered. I wouldn't let them in my house or my business, i find that all boundaries are a wonderful thing.

Hmmm...as I recall this same stuff was tried on FishingBuddy years ago and how did that end?...well Vollmer created this great website and the same problem people came here, nothing new, just a different website is all. Calling a spade a spade and yet those people from FishingBuddy that were asking for respect and accountability were crucified, weird how that goes.

Sandstrom lasted about 15 years before he was axed by the new owners for allowing what Vollmer is now experiencing...Vollmer is right around 11 years and probably sick of this BS and I quick positive he is about ready to pull the plug and move on in life as it a certainty that once you get older you no longer have the desire to do things that you were all about a decade ago.

Simple fact of online forum websites, they come and go and those that stay are mainly toxic as they have no other outlook on life and are addicted to the drama, usually drinkers that want to argue without being punched in the face, and sadly most are cowards...that is the real truth of this.

Vollmer, you HAD a great website for awhile...not so much now. It is really okay to pull the plug and move on with your life bud, kiddos are getting older and this kind of stuff really doesn't matter all that much!

Curbing political banter shouldn’t harm the site at all, it’s called Nodakangler for a reason………

Meh, pretty sure the biggest issue that FB had was that certain individuals who will remain un-named were given the authority to swing the banhammer.... don't know for sure, but I think theres only been a couple people who have actually been banned here.... most everyone who can't play nice just gets ignored... I know I have a few of the trolls here ignored and lemme say, it makes the world a better place... I think Vollmer is doing it right by allowing the masses to self regulate , and I don't think NodakAngler will be going away anytime soon.

kinda miss the sidebar, having a separate politics section should be enough to allow people who dont want it to not pay attention. Id think intentionally decreasing activity might be counter productive.
