Wife and I camping at Ft. Stevenson beginning Saturday for a week. Just wondered if anyone has been on Sak east end area or Audubon the last week or so. I know with the tournament last weekend all the talk was the long run to the west. Not planning to run further west than Douglas Bay...unless I have to! Any advice is greatly appreciated...thanks gents!

:::If ya watched the tourney then you should know exactly where to go. And exactly where not to go:::. Think itl be a few weeks before things go too wild in them parts imo

I am curious how you "watched"... I watched a bit of the weigh-ins online. Was there more online or televised? Or were you on the lake or shore...

It brings up an interesting thought. If the tournament had a way to track boat movements (like a chip) and fish caught with weights for the tournament it would be some interesting information. Possibly for sale, after the event, of course. Make it a requirement for pre fishing. Would anyone buy this info? I would definitely look at it if it was free...

fished Douglas Bay last Saturday/Sunday afternoon/evening Caught 2 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday pitching plastics into shallows. never caught 2 walleye in the same spot and none were really shallow, most were in the 9 ft range. Very slow.

Fished Steinkie Bay Monday evening and all i caught was Northern.

I was running and gunning, tried 15+ spots each trip. There were only a couple other boats out sat/sun. I also hear it might be more of a morning bite then an evening bite. Definitely not hot and heavy yet.

Thanks 701 and dsc...kinda figured still shallow. Thought I would hit all the bays first...plastics, may pull some slow death set ups as well. Where are water temps at now on the east end?

Maybe he has some first hand advice from co's and pro's! As far as fish tracking if the technology available doesn't make fishing easy enough then ....well never mind someone would buy it.

Audubon should be starting to go. Look in the 5 to 12 foot range. If nothing else the smallest will be active.

Probably gonna hit Audubon early Sunday morning before the winds come up. Weather looks like crap Sunday afternoon thru Monday evening.

Is my thermocouple broke, because sakakawea is 46 degrees and Audubon is in the mid 60s?

I fished on Audubon saturday, wasn't good, from 10:30am-2:30pm. Wind picked up around noon @ 20mph. I only got one walleye and one tiger muskie. Water temp was 57*. Tried one sunken island and two more exposed islands.

I was in Garrison bay yesterday for about 4 hours. Water temps were 52 in back bays to start the day and closer to 56-57* at the end of the day. Got off water around 1:30. Never caught a walleye. 1 carp and 1 goldeye. Tried jigs/minnows, cranks, live bait. Fished all sorts of different areas from 3 to 30fow. I think it will still be a couple weeks before it gets good. Only about 5 trailers in the lot.

Scrot...the week I spent at Stevenson (20-26) I got out 4 times in between the gale force winds. Fished Audubon twice and Garrison Bay twice. Audubon water temps were 58-60, caught 7 walleye over there...all fish caught on jigs/minnows. Garrison Bay temps were 50-53, caught 8 walleye, 2 smallies, 2 pike. Again all fish caught on jigs/minnows. Buddy and I went to Douglas Bay this past Saturday, fished from about 6:30 to 11 in the evening. Water temps varied from 50-58, depending on the point/bay we were in. Tallied 6 walleye and 1 pike. Started out pulling spinners with crawlers/leeches...no fish. About 9 we found a warmer bay...water temps at 58, switched to jigs plastics-caught all walleye using that presentation.. East end of Sak may still be a week or 3 away from turning on good?

Was in Garrison yesterday. Managed a few. Heard from some guys at the cleaning station that Douglas was better. Garrison bay had water temps over 60 by the afternoon. Main body of water was still mid 50's.
