So while we're on this subject, on the new rig I got a 10 inch Hummingbird Xplore up on the bow paired with the Terrova for the mapping/tracking...works great. But on the console I got a 12 inch Lowrance HDS Pro...which came with the C Map pre-loaded...which is not great. So gonna order an SD chip, but only choices are the Navionics or the C Map. I had the Navionics on the Lund...was ok for Sak, nothing like the Lakemaster. Thoughts...

I have Lakemaster for my bird, C-Map Reveal, and Dr. Sonar for my Lowrance. The C-Map Reveal is great, just as good as Lakemaster.

On your CMAP enable your depth colors, color anything under 20' right now red, and if you want set some other colors you like for other target depths etc. It will make your experience better and still warn you of shallow water.

I used birds for a number of years before letting them all go with my last boat and I've never been happier. I played around with Navionics and CMAP and I do prefer the Navionics, but the cmap was good. I don't have a Minnkota trolling motor though, so I do see the need for at least one graph if a guy has a MK TM

If the lake doesn't come up, you are going to want that cmap chip come July when the fish go deep as the humminbird won't do you any justice with the way that they mapped the lake.

With birds and lakemaster, the ability to do water offset on Sak is invaluable. Like this spring hit -20 ft and it remaps the entire lake to its current level. That's a hard feature to beat. I've had 2 birds in my boats for years that never have a transducer hooked to them.

Yup, bird isn't very good when the water is low. In my opinion, the Navionics isn't any better. Yes, it has contour lines for the lower water levels, but there sure is a lot of "filling in the gaps" as best they could, or that's what it seems like.

Do you know how to adjust your water offset on the bird? It literally follows off the same contours, just adjusts for pool level, it is an amazing feature. Works well on Sak and Peck. While I have found a few discrepancies, especially in places with sharp cuts, it is by far the best mapping out there.

I started leaving my genesis live on all the time, will not map at over 5mph, but is constantly building me a live map of the areas I am concentrating on. Yes, the lake rises a foot and my maps are off, but its still better than playing a generic card guessing came.
