Can anyone recommend a scrap metal/crushing service that operates in south central ND or north central SD? We have a place right on the border and are looking to have things cleaned up. Decent bit of scrap iron from the farm days along with various other iron implements. Also have some old machinery including combines, swathers, and a few old cars. We really don't care much about the value of the scrap but more or less would like to get things cleaned up. Probably can round up a couple more places that want the same thing. Does anyone perform this service? If so, do they do it for the scrap or it there a fee involved? I know someone who said JNR in Bismarck might be willing and also have heard of a place in New Leipzig. Thanks!

I hate to see good shit get crushed for scrap prices. I'd be willing to do a walkthrough and offer a premium price for items that I could make money on up and above scrap price.

we had the farm cleaned up a few years ago... when prices were high, there were guys around to do it and everyone could make a buck...that was in the $100 per ton range if i remember right...

now the last i heard i think it's bout 10... not worth the gas to haul it in for the owner at this point...

That is what I was thinking, very low prices right now from what I know.

cass county, not in the bad part tho.
RTS shearing did some farm clean up for me, They did a good job. They could handle everything I had easily. Prices have dropped a lot since then. as of Thursday ,fargo was paying 30 a ton at one place and 55 a ton at the other. im not sure why the big difference. they are usually within about 5 ton. at those prices it might be hard to find any one interested in doing it right now.

Antiques is what I like but I restore old tractors and my stash of parts is getting right down there. I'd pull the magnetos and carbs maybe a few odds and ends other parts off old engines. I am at the Canadian border and your at the SD border so most likely wouldn't be worth the drive for me unless you had a lot of old stuff like that.

When I take a walkabout at the scrap iron places I am like a kid on an Easter egg hunt, I've saw some pretty valuable stuff get smashed or buried with scrap. My best pick was a set of 409 exhaust manifolds that a scrap dealer gave to me when I was in high school , I sold them a few years ago for $ 850.00
