Fishing was really good, first 24 hours was probably the best bite I've ever seen up there. And the other days were definitely above average. Overall I'd say we each caught 20 a day on average. Average size was 21-25 inches.
Awesome report 5575, You scared the crap out of me
when you were checking out the pressure ridge, I'd bring a chipper bar next trip just to be safe . Thanks again for sharing.

I bet driving in zero visibility and watching a GPS screen would be spooky too .

We did that - and I was the lone guy with a functioning GPS on my snowmobile in our group.
Drove several miles to the ramp - leading a group of others. Trying to watch that tiny GPS screen and not lose anyone in the group sure did suck.

This was before cell coverage on Big Windy - and an unexpected strong wind cold front picked up snow and ground blizzarded us.

One other group with a younger boy headed back in too. They had started from a half mile away from us. They had to pitch up for a while and get heaters going in flip-up when they lost a belt on the snowmobile. After warming up they wrestled what ended up being the wrong size belt into place and limped in.

Waiting for them back on shore and wondering what was gonna happen was awful. I still feel queasy/ugh all these years later.
