About 1909, my great grandparents loaded up a wagon, left east central Alberta and made it roughly 700 miles south to Burleigh county. I can't wait to ask them why they stopped. Probably got the fuck out of dodge as soon as the snow melted and got here, just guessing, in September. Because who wouldn't want to live here in September? Either that, or that is where whatever was pulling the wagon died. Just couldn't quite make it another 400 miles south. Nope. Stupid fucking horse.

Juncos have pretty much moved out here, replaced by a couple hundred robins that seem pretty upset by the weather. Usually have some Cooper's Hawks around picking blackbirds from the nests later in the season, but would like to see the sharp-shinned doing their thing on the juncos.
