I usually take 10 or so of the little handwarmer packets you can get for your pockets and tape them to the motor in random places, mostly on the lower unit and then take some bubble wrap or old blankets and wrap the motor up in that pretty good. Use duct tape or bungee cords to hold the insulation on.

this is the most absurd thing i've heard. haha

67 years old and learning things in this one post that I never knew. How did I get so lucky all these years by just pulling to boat out of the water, pulling the plugs and parking it wherever I had a spot that was open. Have never parked a boat in a heated garage. Would if I had an open spot, but never had room. Call me lucky.

Haha Just watch, now someone won't drain their I/O and blame it on you and the water.

On cold days/nights when I get home from the ramp I put muffs on my motor (the water muffs) and let the motor run all night. That way the water never freezes in the lower unit. I also dump a large tin of coffee in the livewell and run the recirc pump. The coffee is hydrophillic and pulls the moisture from the pump to decrease the chance of a hard freeze.

Put the engine in a big plastic bag full of rice. Same concept of a wet phone, the rice pulls the moisture out of every nook and cranny.

Lake sak --- second week of june --- I let the water out of live well when we cleaned fish but always some remain. Next morning it was froze - second week of June. gotdamn

- - - Updated - - -

I fish in late late fall - i just let the motor down drain up -- move it up and down a little make sure it drains - hit the starter quick and turn it off without letting it start. Never had an issue. Live wells drain - hit the pump - everything is flexible never an issue.

In all seriousness - put the boat away for another month. Get on a plane to florida and go fishin.
