This thread is not about the fun that people can enjoy with ATVs but a gripe. I live on a very popular road that ATV riders use frequently. I hate most of the riders lack of respect for property. You see my approach is a hill and the idiots think it's cool to try and catch some air and as a result the tires dig into my gravel approach and in a few weeks I will have 8" ruts. Then when I have to buy more gravel they think it will be cool to try and do cookies in the loose gravel.
Here's the kicker I can't put anything up to block them because it's considered a public roadway. A sheriff won't do anything unless he sees it. And let's just say their not hanging out in my neck of the woods.

Can you "rip-rap" your approach with softball to bowling ball sized rocks? Might cut down on erosion.

Start off by posting a caution sign and when that doesn't work i suggest a lawn chair, cooler of beer and a paintball gun. Oh the fun you'll have. it wouldn't hurt to have a taser as back up in case theres a tough guy moment.

well if it's a public roadway it's not your responsibility to maintain the approach. So start calling the county several times a week to come and repair it. they'll get sick of that and take care of the ATV guys themselves.

Trail cam footage to your local LEO should take care of it.

Same goes for the ditches on the west bypass in Minot. These ditches look like a mud bog. Have seen LEOs pulling people over when LEOs have been driving down the bypass and happen to catch them. But they can't just sit there and wait for them.

No common sense and total lack of respect for private and public property. Such is the day and age we live in.

Same issue around my place with ATVs and snowmobiles. It would be fun to follow them and take a few mud laps in their yard.

I take my dog out in the side by side when the weather is nice enough, just north of town. The amount of garbage in the ditches this year is unbelievable. I actually picked up a bunch of it last Saturday when me and mrs johnr were running the dog. The tiny little ranger box was about half full.
Why do people feel the need to toss cans out the window? And a minimum maintenance road must have had a half dozen deer carcasses in the ditch area about 50 ft into the road. How fricken hard is it to put your deer carcass in the dumpster.

I am old and don't jump my UTV, or do cookies on the gravel, but I do use the roads that I help pay for to the full extent of my ability, and completely agree some guys sure do ruin it for the rest of us.

Same this way. All the garbage makes me sick. I also get alot around hunting season from all the Fargo guys I assume since there isn't a McDonald's or any fast food places around here. But that's another thread....

Just bought a used Ranger last week. I enjoy it much more than the atv. I don't jump ditches but love a slow cruise with wife in the afternoon with a cold beverage

Nope, they will just keep running those over. Unless they come in 3/4" rebar and you pound them 4 feet into the ground.

My place is on a gravel curve; the atv and mostly go-carts driven by <14 yr old kids like to spin out through the corner, putting gravel in my ditches until the road is smooth. Kids hanging on the bumpers or sides...one of these days they'll roll in rocks and maybe mommy/daddy will learn a lesson. Motorized babysitters. If you don't know the kiddos are spinning 360s on the road you're an irresponsible idiot; if you don't care, you're an ignorant a-hole.

I really wanted to put a couple of posts in the ground with about a 3/8" cable strung across at about 3' of the ground but law enforcement wasn't too keen on the idea. (I'm kidding for all you who at way too serious). Seriously I agree whatever you do it will just get ran over or removed

Park a tractor or some old pickup there, put a trail camera in the window, they'll cry like a bunch of bitches.

There was an idiot in an older Tahoe stuck in some cattails on the southbound off ramp for 4th Ave Saturday evening when me and the boy were headed to the hockey game. Hope that one cost him some $$$. He had more money into LED light bars on that thing that the Tahoe was worth!

Kurt, not against atv riding or mudding, they just need to do it in a spot that my taxes don't have to go up to repair.
