Should I use a Stainless Steel prop while fishing Lake Sakakawea? Am I asking for trouble? Should I play it safe and use an aluminum one in anticipation of striking trash under the water's surface?

Thoughts?

Where are you going? most bays have a sunken island or a long underwater point or two that might get you in trouble in them but for the most part sakakawea is pretty easy running

Initially, I will be running 15 miles east and west of the Indian Hills resort marina.

There are islands in front of deepwater to the west and other than that it is pretty smooth sailing in all directions, put the stainless on

granted there are a few sunken points around but for the most part they are between islands and bays

What do you mean by sunken points? What kind of land features, etc. are submerged in these areas that you indicated?
