This is apparently wrong. On the ground reporters(Scott Hennen) said that none had taken the offer around 3:15pm or so but newest press release says 4 did.

Remember a few years ago when things were going pretty well in the oil patch? There were several states buying one way bus tickets to ND for citizens of theirs getting out of jail. Apparently there wasn't enough opportunity for them there, so they figured they'd send them up here. Sounds like a pretty stellar idea right? I say lets buy all the one way bus tickets south we can and return the favor to those great states.

Read in the Forum this morning that clean up will take at least 3 more weeks. Hell there will be thousands of truckloads of garbage by then.

Also read the Governor said about 70 people took advantage of the free motels and bus tickets.

well unless they have a guy sitting there counting all of them i dont know if they got all the ones going to the south. i will just put it as alot of loads

Looked like a train at times with the trucks going north this past weekend and guessing that is that way the rest of the week too.

they dont have a land fill that can take it and do you know how much money the county gets for the tipping fees. What is the per ton cost i know for a fact that they want all the garbage.

The protesters are a P.I.T.A. but they're not stupid. They're hitting us (the State of ND and its taxpayers) right where it hurts the most. In the pocketbook.

Kurtr, you're right, there are always a lot of knee-jerk reactions. Not just on this site. This is where there are suggestions that people "throw the book at 'em", but in order to lawfully do that, you have to either make a law, or change an existing law. And then we have a law on the books that's irrelevant after this is over.

Anyhow, in my book, I just can't wait until the pipeline is in, and up and running. Then nothing to protest about anymore.

And yes, I feel that suing the Federal Government to recover some of the costs associated with policing this fiasco, is good thinking.

Watched a P.O.S. bus get retrieved from the impound yard about 20 minutes ago. Some real characters.

Signs on the side of the bus said "Let the Water Heal" and you should have seen the cloud of blue exhaust smoke as they drove away pulling a small horse-trailer.
