I would like to see this law go as well. I think a lot of us plan our weekends around the weather. Plans also change and things break or get lost. It would be nice to be able to use Sunday morning to make a run to a store or two.

Especially since many churches are now online, on podcast, on Saturday etc.

The whole religious argument it ridiculous. Government shouldn’t be involved in decisions based on religion anyway.

I like Sunday closing, you heathens.

besides, Moorhead Mogadishu is right across the river, and most stores open at 9am.

So what’s the problem?

I like to go to golf addictions on sunday mornings. They dont serve liquor till 11:00. We should get that changed too.

It’s easy to be in favor of doing away with the Sunday blue law when looking at it from a shopper standpoint. What about those who have to work so you can shop on Sunday morning? Look at Thanksgiving for example. It used to be a family get together tradition. Today, there’s always a family member or two or more who have to go to work because of greed. Are we so selfish and greedy that we can’t hold part of a day sacred for church/family?

Regardless of government, I don’t think God thinks it’s ridiculous.

businesses have the option. Nobody is holding a gun to their heads. It’s should be all businesses or none. Bait shops included. Governments job isn’t picking winners and losers. Nor is it to wade into religious ideologies

Been employed for 44 years, in the restaurant industry, military, and medical field, so tell me what it's like to have every Sunday off

The Sabbath isn't for God, it for man. I really don't care, but do agree with KW on Thanksgiving and family (erosion of family through consumerism, however smart phones are blowing that out if the water). I've worked retail and having Sunday morning to square things away in the store is really nice. I also great up in rural ND. We'd go to Forks once or twice a month for most of our shopping. So Mom had to plan ahead. I doubt opening the stores early will increase sales taxes. There's a few people who'll run to MN to buy whatever before noon, but most people would sleep in and worry about their shopping after dinner.

not sure who your asking but I work every other Sunday. Have for many years. And for three years I worked every Sunday. And for an eight year stretch I worked every Sunday, in fact worked seven days a week 365 days a year. The past four years I’ve worked both thanksgiving and Xmas on top of that.

Do you like working on sundays and holidays? Outside of workaholics (no work/life balance) I can’t say I know anyone who wants to work more.

I still think greed and selfishness play a role in the motive behind axing the blue law, holidays, etc.

it really doesn’t matter. I work eight days on six days off. Just been the luck of the draw. After next Xmas I’ll have a few years in a row not working em. I hav never heard anybody complain in the states with no blue law. I don’t even know if there are any others. What about the person that really needs to be able to work sunday mornings to make ends meet. And why is this just limited to retail. If it’s good for retail then why isn’t it a law nobody works on sundays.

For me at least in the retail stores, they shouldn't force one to work Sundays, Christmas, or Thanksgiving. That should be up to the employee if they want or need to work then fine. You may disagree and that is fine. Just my 2 cents.

Religion should play no part. What if they shut store down for Muslims to pray? There is church on more than sundays so plenty of chances for them to get collection plates filled and build new big show churches and ship more refugees here
