And why the hell should bait stores be allowed to be open on sundays. People can certainly plan ahead to get bait. And fuel too. With card troll no reason to have it staffed.

Religion should play no part. What if they shut store down for Muslims to pray? There is church on more than sundays so plenty of chances for them to get collection plates filled and build new big show churches and ship more refugees here

what if? you mean WHEN they shut down for Muslims to pray

I'm old enough to remember when most every business other then gas stations were closed on Sunday. It was a nice peaceful day. Great day to go for a drive with the family.

it seems like everyone wants ND to catch up with the rest of the country, when we already have what they are looking for. Our quality of life is consistently rated towards the top. Maybe getting rid of blue laws wont change this, and maybe one of these days we will be just like CA

When I was young it was our standing challenge to find beer on a Sunday. Yeah, we should have stocked up on Saturday, but we were dumb. We'd hit friend's houses and beg a few here and there. Almost always turned into a great day meeting up with friends.
I remember my dad stopping at the local fire hall on Sundays and grabbing a six pack out of the fridge. I also remember him restocking the same fridge. Simple times back then.

businesses have the option. Nobody is holding a gun to their heads. It’s should be all businesses or none. Bait shops included. Governments job isn’t picking winners and losers. Nor is it to wade into religious ideologies

The government is already picking winners and loser when they tax, along with other things differently for businesses then they do farmers/ranchers.

If they open it up then All businesses should be open including all government offices,

I am not fat lazy or fucking passive and will question when I see big talk. I don’t give money to the churches who bring them in maybe you should start with your popes or priests then mayor and council man.

My wife has worked virtually every other Sunday for the past 40+ years, as well as at least 1/2 of the traditional holiday. Wasn't unusual for our kids and I to spend Christmas Day fishing during the day and spending family time that evening when their mom got home from work. Missing all those Sundays and she was still very active in the church. Attending when she could and very active in the various women's organizations. Her work never interfered with her religion.

So working on Sunday interfering with family time carries no weight with me. It make no sense that I can go into a convenience store on Sunday morning and buy a box of shotgun shells but I can't go into the local hardwire store to buy an identical box of shells. Since I was a little boy, more than 60 years ago, we would sometimes stop, maybe once a month or less, in a restaurant for breakfast or dinner after church. If I remember correctly someone was there to cook that meal as well as someone to wait on us and I'm guessing someone was washing dishes. Sunday opening is not new to this state, it just redefines who can be open.

I really don't like shopping, but sometimes when I need something it would be nice to have a place to buy it when I need it.
