What the heck. At some lakes I have been to you almost need an extension. Goes to show, there is never safe ice.

If you look at the picture it's says east of valley city which anyone who lives by valley city knows hobart lake is west of. So either this is a sick joke or someone has the wrong lake name

Short don't you think it's kind of suspicious that who ever wrote that didn't know Hobart is on the west side of valley city

It could be bogus. I am not sure. But I have been up to my waist during a winter that was so cold

Getting to be a bit of standing water on the ice and some of the small creeks are starting to buckle. Definitely going to have to be on gaurd as underwater rock plies start heating the ice above and make a nice little mine field.

Was at a lake today and I'd say close to 30 inches thick. Not much auger left when u punch through. I hope that's not a true story! Scary!

A woman wrote it. Half the woman I know think north is whatever direction their facing at the moment. Would be curious to know if this is true.

Yeah that spot north of the gravel road is notorious for bad ice....stay away from that spot always!

Yeah i was by there last Saturday and there was open water on the north side where the culvert runs under the road. People had been driving north on the field about 200 yards and then walking out. Was only one person out there when I went past.

Yeah it's safe to fish the lake but stay away from that culvert, as with any lakes with culverts
