Had mice pack the old time air intake on a Mazda pickup full of dog food. Did not run well with that much air restriction. The pickup was a 100 ft from the bag of dog food in the barn. Busy little bastards they were. LB

Have seen this as well on an older chevy pickup. The whole intake tube to the air cleaner, plus packed the air cleaner full all around the outside of the filter. The owner was curious as too why the dog food was disappearing so fast.

I'm from Casselton and I take exception to this thread :)

I saw this work to the advantage of a contestant on "Alone" (survival show). They found a cache of mushrooms a squirrel put in a tree and were able to "cache" in on it. Me - I'd be leary of mildly-identifiable dried mushrooms if trying to survive, but that's just me.

So, about this time of year, when the fall-bite is around the corner, Royce and I share some common ground.

We were at a campground in Montana and wondered why vehicles has their hoods up at every campsite. Curiosity got the best of me so I asked a camper. He said if you leave your hood shut chipmunks will chew off your wires within hours. I still wonder why that campground was worse than other campgrounds in the area. There were chipmunks everywhere so perhaps it was just because of the dense population.

agreed with all, thought it was just my critter issues...dog food bag in my mud room ,shop vac same location, little some beeches (mice)spent many nights stealing dog food then taking said food pellets up the vacum hose and deposite them in the powerhead,I'm talking a pile of dog food pellets came shitting out of the discharge like projectile vomit....squrriels....meh,#guyfartnpoopin put the air gun aside,.22 long rifle quiet loads (710fps) no .22 crack when fired, less noise than said pellet gun 40gr .22HP's does more damage, better for chucks/badger's iffin you have them. Those dang red's are holy hell to tag,so dang fast,or I'm just to slow in my old age?

When I was preschool my ol man had a cloth bag 1/2 full of alfalfa seed in the shop and when he went to seed it the bag was almost empty . I was the only suspect and I denied knowing anything about it , old man thought for sure I was lying . I bet he casually mentioned it 20 times a month at the dinner table thinking I'd soon come clean from the pressure. Then one cold morning he went to start a fire in the old pot belly stove and opened the door and filled his overshoes with alfalfa seed.

Sort of along the same line, back many years a friend of my dads had shot a coupla deer and hung them in an old shed. Right after it turned bitter cold and the deer froze solid so the guy just lift them hang. Did I mention they had a lot of cats. When weather warmed a little they went to get the deer to thaw out and cut up. They had left the hides on and all looked well until they grabbed the first one and it just folded right up. Cats had figured out a way to get in and ate all the meat off the deer without disturbing the hide. Needless to say the cat herd thinned out quite quickly. LB

I was in SD years ago camping in the Black Hills when a gal had her wiring eaten by a ground hog. Did quite a bit of damage!

Just a few years ago I had parked my Honda Pioneer SxS in the front yard. Next day it wouldn't start, just spin over and over and over. Eventually had to take it to the Honda mechanic. 3 weeks and $300 later I had two new splices in the neutral safety wiring going to the transmission. Not sure if that was due to mice or squirrels, but it was pretty annoying.

Nature is pretty neat right up until it's a pain in the derriere.

They have that issue in Spearfish Canyon with porcupines. They are attracted to brake fluid and are chewing on brake lines of parked vehicles .
