Guy in high school when asked what he was going to do for a living said " I am going to be a welder", I thought that was a strange occupation back in the mid 80's. I wonder if he ever became a welder, and if he is still welding.
I never welded, and as a little Minneapolis kid, none of my crew ever took any of them type classes either.
I was going to be a welder and go to NDSCS until I talked to my neighbor who was a certified pipe/boiler welder at the time and had been around for quite some time. Long story short he talked me into finding something with a cleaner work environment and if I enjoy welding and beings I had a decent nack for to do it as a hobby. Looking back and knowing things I know now about the industry I am thankful for that

The fact that it is growing so rapidly and welders are in very high demand?
