Hello Fellas,

New to the group and taking my boy out camping for a few days to the Turtle Mnts area with a boat to fish for Sunfish and Crappie.
I am having a tough time finding a good campground other than the State park at Metigoshie, also I am very interested in finding some smaller lakes to fish for large panfish as we have a small boat,
I know its asking a lot but if you have the name of one or two I should try Ill go there with my Son,

Thanks in advance

Lake upsilon has some really nice bluegills, decent perch, and northerns. Campground at Lion's Park on east side with swimming beach although the campground is geared more towards campers than tents as there are few trees in the actual campground. For campers there are good pads to park your camper with electricity. A lake very similar to Metigoshe with less traffic. I did say less traffic, not no traffic. Fourth of July weekend will be busier than any other time of the year. For boats there is a G&F boat ramp.

Camp and fish at Lake Upsilon the lake has bluegills, northerns, walleye, perch, and the occasional crappie. If you want a good fight for the children take them three miles west on highway forty-three to Hooker lake for some Rainbow trout action.

Jarvis Lake for Bluegills. Doesn't have a campsite though. I would try camping at Hooker Lake or Dion Lake. Good Luck and most importantly, have tons of fun!

Hooker Lake has primitive camping, no facilities. Dion Lake is nice but also the site of the occasional party that will keep you and your son up quite late. Shepherd's Hill is nice, no fishing right there but there is swimming and within a couple miles of Upsilon and Hooker. Shepherds' Hill is a religious campground, Lutheran I believe, but it is not forced on you. Guaranteed to be quiet and a very nice area. Also has other activities that at one time included canoeing, horses, frisbee golf. Not sure what is offered this summer.
