Interesting a couple of you guyz talking about RVing,my thoughts being single, load a camper on my truck, sell my paid for house and spend summer months prospecting gold in colorado, iffin I could get by on my SS checks, younger years stream fishing all thru colorado for trout and panning for gold which we always found as a hobby, good excerise, fresh air is good.

Someone here on NDA claimed just because you fart in the wind doesn't mean you didn't fart....lol,this tid bit of intellect might of came from juanr? lol.

I watched 3 couples sell their farm/ranch buy an RV and hit the road. Two of them didn't last a year. With all of the chores with farming they barely saw each other except at meal time and evenings in front of the tv. Now they were cramped inside 24/7 and realized they really didn't like each other. You take quite a beating when you sell a 2nd hand RV.

Will not buy a new motorhome...am sure the resale is not very good.

a year ago, my financial guy asked why i was still working full time so i became one of those guys that works when he wants to. I questioned him as i am under 60. Bird Hunted 72 days last fall starting in sept in montana. My biggest problem is the days go by so fast I don't seem to get anything done and dont have much time to work.

Great thread! Retired 5 years ago at 63. Concern at that time was how I would stay engaged physically & mentally. Not a problem! Manage to stay busy every day generally in the great outdoors - with g kids and doing some volunteering. I have recently located my grandfather's 49 Studebaker truck and am trying to determine if I have the energy and ability to rehab it.

Been to the vet cemetery a number of times in Mandan. Nice place to have in the state. Have a friend who plans to be bury there with his wife. I think i will return to my place of birth or wife's parents plot and be bury by family. Got all kinds of time to think about this.

However last night my lap top lock up with a number of 202-980-5105 to call. Second time this has happen. First time i call and i ended up spending over 100 dollars at store to fix computer for what they did. Showed daughter and she said that number is on a list for bad things. So this morning taking to computer store again to fix. Just letting all know. db

mrs johnr and I spent the last 8 days down in Cabo, like we have every February for the last 8-9 years. I think we could hang for a couple months, but full time all the time she would kill me, or worse...

DB-2you mentioned Army. Have you checked out the Vets cemetery south of Mandan?

Couples need a break, and being on the open road would be a stress in itself.

Stay off the porn sites and you won't have that problem.

Thanks for the perspectives on retirement. As a younger guy with many years until retirement i hadn't really thought about it more than just putting money away without any clear vision of what it would be like. I had originally planned on retiring at 55, but life changes and that becomes more and more unrealistic. For a decade it has been pretty much business as usual, but within the last 6 months i've had so many huge life changes: girl friend and kid, buying a house, changes at work, etc. So, it seems like instead of only 20 more years it'll be more like 30 until i could retire.

Keep yourself as debt free as possible and nose to the grindstone and you will be fine but leave some memory time also. LB
