This is kinda like a pubes or no pubes kinda thing, tough to tell ppl what to do with their business.

I was my towns city superintendent for 3 years and every summer there were lawn issues. 8" was the limit and then I was supposed to mow the lawn at owners expense of $75. I would always check with the owner first and most, not every, but most time there was a legit reason. Older resident with an ailment and no family, broken equipment and waiting on parts, job took them out of town etc..... And then there were the occasional lazy asses who just wouldn't do it. But I'm sure you know all of that since it's a classic quoteba ha ha
classic!
It takes basically zero money to mow a yard. In every case I’ve lived near where someone didn’t take care of their yard it was just sheer laziness and lack of give a damn for other people’s property values.
Just so everyone knows, I do care about my own lawn, its an average size lawn. Fertilize it 4 to 5 times a year. I mow it at least 3 times a week,(even when I work 80 hour weeks) never gets taller then 4". It takes me around a half hour to mow it. If I would let it get taller, like a foot, it would probably take me over an hour (quicker to mow more often). Spray the weeds when ever they start popping up, mostly spot spraying. 3oz of Trimec\Triplet per gallon of water curls them up in 2 to 3 days. And you know what I have more crawler in my yard then you can shack a stick at.
I guess if you don't want to spray the weeds, the least everyone could do, is mow them off before they go to seed.
My thought on the city ordinances is, if they are not fallowed, why waste our tax money to enact them? I believe the law is nothing over 8 inches tall. I have called the city on my neighbors across the street 3 times (in like 3 years) because of their lawn. Every time I have called the city, they have came and told them to get it mowed.
So, by that logic, the new carb that is ordered and labor will be free? Or should I just walk off with a new mower since mowing costs zero dollars. Not to mention gas. That little push motor was in the shop last year too. Also, weed killer is not cheap.
