I don't think you're being a jerk. I'm starting to get it for a lot of you. The time you guys put in fishing is about the time I put in hunting/scouting, etc. If there were a comparable hunting item to a boat, I'd probably drop that kind of money too.

For the amount of times I get out, my ~$1200 bought and paid for rig is just what I need.

Yes sir. I used to spend a lot of time hunting and scouting. I should really get back to those days. I had some great times.

mrs johnr actually picked our boat out. I had a paid for 17 ft Fisher with a 75HP on the back. She was tired of the size of it, and being reluctant to fish in winds over 10mph, which in western ND is 99% of the time.

she loves fishing more than I do, as long as its open water.
