no worries john...you the insurance guy remember...you got insurance, right?????

Oh yeah, I insure everything I have need it or not. I believe it is better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

seems like on heck of an available market for a glass expert type of person. the cost of those seems completely out of line.

All I know is the next time one of mine breaks, I'm going plastic. I cannot believe the insurance companies haven't tried to end this racket already.

Fabricating straight/flat plate replacement frames and glass might have a market. Could maybe even make the glass tall enough that a guy's not looking directly through the top frame, or over the top of the glass as well. OEM equivalent curved replacement glass would be hard to turn a profit without charging what's already being charged.

The other thing, is the business would have to be run by someone who HATES fishing/boating because you sure as heck wouldn't have time for either during the busy season.

I ordered one of those as well after taking some rocks to my windshield last summer. Luckily they just chipped the glass and didn't crack or break it. An added bonus to that windshield cover is not having to clean all the damn bugs off the windshield.

I did my boat windshield breakage on Friday of this week, wife was back in Dickinson so I had her call the dealer, they need the serial numbers from the boat to get the exact part number to order, but stated the cost would be in the 3,000 to $4,000 range. Guessing that is for an entire windshield, not just the section that broke.
They also said it can take 6 weeks to get the part, and another couple weeks to fix it.

That sucks!! I went thru my insurance and installed the Windshield myself.... it was like $1500 for both sides and the door...

Good luck!!
