I really wouldn’t have guessed that. But then we are probably one of only a couple states that give out drivers licenses as young as we do. Would be interesting to see how age plays into it. The dui number isn’t as surprising but I figured WI would win that one. Or lose it depending on how you look at it.

I’d be interested to know miles driven per violation, I suspect ND Drivers drive several orders of magnitude more miles between “events” vs. other states.

And Bismarck has 95% of them
I travel the state extensively and Bismarck traffic is defiantly strange. So many people in so many places 5-10MPH UNDER the posted speed limits during times of light to moderate traffic. State St and Expressway can be especially maddening as a result!!

The rest of the stuff happens everywhere:

People on their phones not moving when the light turns green and incredulous when you honk @ them. Next red light, repeat. Try to pass them, oh HELL NO!!!

People on their phones wandering over a lane or 2 and slowing down to give themselves some space in front of them since they're not paying attention. Turn on a blinker and slide into that spot, you might as well have passed them with 3/4 lap left @ Bristol, they're gonna pay you back!! When they finish their urgent phone stuff they're back on the gas, tailgating and pissed off @ all the people in their way.

Not using blinkers or using them so late that you might just as well not have (midway through the turn, yeah, we know already.....).

Being all the way over to the right side curb when making a left-hand turn so EVERYBODY gets to wait for your whereas if you moved over against the center-line/stripe, right-turners could get by. Nope, we're gonna let 15 of them stack up while they wait. They might even miss a few open windows in traffic to turn if there's some good stuff on their phone.

No cruise going down the divided highway, they'll just go ahead and camp in your blind spot.

No cruise going down the highway while also on the phone, drifting slower, until you get beside them, then they'll pace you basically as fast as you want to go if you do it gradually, while of course, still thumbing through whatever actually has their attention on screen.

A newer one is having the adaptive cruise on and happily putting along behind a semi until you've ALMOST caught their rear bumper. The orange "someone's next to you" light in the side mirror turns on, they realize they're only going 68-72 behind the semi, whip out in front of you even though you're going 12-15MPH faster than them, then creep along past the semi maybe 75MPH, move back to the right lane, NOW mash the accelerator and now want to drive fast enough you can't pass them, even though they just barely creeped by the semi.

Exiting a 4-lane highway and turning right WITH blinker properly deployed, lets sit @ the red light and check our phone while there's 0 traffic, or, check our phone just long enough that we can mash the gas and pull out w/less than optimal space while simultaneously leaving a stack of cars unable to turn right until traffic clears.

Horseshit study, it relies mostly on law enforcement contact. I can tell you 100% the drivers in Florida are much worse, the Florida cops are just way too busy chasing real crime to mess with traffic control.

The things that drive me insane driving in Bismarck:
1. People staring at their phones while driving
2. People driving under the speed limit. Especially on the higher speed limit roads.
3. 2-3 cars still turning after the light to go straight has already turned green.
4. People almost coming to a complete stop before taking a right turn.
5. All things that have to do with a round-a-bout. Especially the people who don't yield and appear to speed up as they get to one, or the people who stop while in the round-a-bout.
6. Reckless crotch rocket drivers. But look out for motorcycles.
