Did a blind taste test with 8 friends a couple of years ago to see if they preferred Napoleon or Wishek sausage. Both are excellent choices. Vote turned out to be a tie, 4-4. I broke the tie with a Napoleon vote but it was a hard pick.

I like cooking the ring sausage in the vacuum bags I freeze them in. Boil water/sausage...remove. No hassle clean-up! Wipe pot dry and put away
I Do that ice fishing. Dip a little water out of the lake, boil in the vacuum bag

If you don’t fry your sausage a little afterwards (IF it’s been primarily boiled), you can go to hell!!!

PS: I have never had Napoleon’s sausage. I’m going to try it. Langdon’s is good too, much prefer Stan’s. Hecla USED to kick ass! Not so much the last time I went.

Hecla is no more. They closed up shop and auctioned off as much as they could.

The butcher shop in Hecla is gone. They sold all the equipment last spring. And the Mitchell Brothers are turning it into apartments.

My nephew likes the Napoleon sausage so much he had me ship him 20# when he was stationed in Alaska a few years ago.

Hickory Hut is closed for good and has been for a few years.... Langdon Locker is the processor that distributes their sausage all over.
Have heard rumors of someone purchasing it to reopen it in the past year but nothing in the works. I can definitely see it happening at some point as it's too nice of a building in and out just to sit vacant.
Lack of deer tags doesn't only affect us hunters sadly..
