A fisherman brought in an adult Zebra mussel to G&F. Then they tested the water and found Zebras of all ages in the lake. That is being proactive. This ANS program was set up as a PC program and will not prevent the spread of Zebra mussels. If they really wanted to try and prevent it they should of started 5 years ago to have it mandatory for out of state boats to go through a wash check point, get a sticker and pay for it. Unless they figured no matter what they do it is going to spread. Unfortunately just a matter of time before DL and Sak have them. Who knows they probably already do.

I personally know a guy who fishes Ashtabula at least once a summer and then fishes Sak and other lakes. He drains everything but you never know. Biggest thing that makes me scratch my head is how a fisherman brings in an adult Zerbra mussel to the game and fish and it is a surprise to them. You would think they would do periodic testing on lakes.
