Have used the TTSX 130gr Barnes bullet in my .270 for elk with excellent results. Have wanted to try the 110gr TTSX for deer. Wish I would have tried it back when whitetail doe tags were handed out like Halloween candy to get a real test.

Now, because I like to hunt mule deer the practical test of killing deer is limited. Had the chance this fall and my results were very good. First shot wasn't my best as it, in TV terms was "a little back." Gut shot in my mind but it punched a nice hole at a pretty steep downward angle and the buck didn't fall but didn't want to move very far, basically took a few steps and then stopped. The second shot entered, quartering away, right in front of the hind quarter, stopped outside the far shoulder. Deer ran about 20 yards and fell dead. Mushroomed to 1.72 times the beginning diameter. The part which is advertised about weight retention is true. Starting weight of 110 gr., recovered weight, 106gr.

Will use that bullet again, just looking for any other experience as I've only used it one time on game and have been using 130gr bullets in the .270 for 50+years. Even the gut shot, not proud of, but it was pretty devastating based on how the deer reacted.

I use the 130 grain partition but I’m sure the 110 tsx will do the trick well.

From what I’ve read, your results are pretty typical. One of their biggest benefits is consistency as I understand it. Hopefully this winter I will FINALLY get my shit together and learn to/start reloading. Barnes will be the first thing I try.

TTSX and TSX are my go too hunting bullets in all of my rifles. Have not had one fail me and I don't think I'll hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

PS: The 80 gr 6mm TTSX at about 3100ish is a deer slaying machine....

My wife shoots a 7mm-08 with Barnes TTSX 120 grain. She is a much better shot than I am, but by her demonstrations for deer the past three years, it is a very excellent choice. All three have been well placed, through the heart shots. This year she made an incredible shot at 426 yards.

Shot a decent buck a couple years ago with 110TTSX out of my 308 winny, nice double lung shot and he did a little dance and fell over. MV is around 3300fps aslo, pretty flat till they start to slow down!

130's out of my 308. Killed over a dozen deer with that load and seen about twice as many shot with it. Same results...dime size in, quarter size out, 25-50 yards and a death wobble. Unless you spine them, neck them, or shoot them in the face.

Im with jiffy. Why go down to a 110 when you are already using a 130 other then if you are like me asnd like messing with new loads? By all means have fun with the 110 but seems like you have a great thing going with the 130s.

I’m planning to go to 150 grain partitions with reloder 26 after the results SDMF has had.

This is my first year shooting the 180 grain TTSX out of my 300 win mag. Very pleased with the results thus far. Shot my buck at 400 yards and left a nice pencil hole going in and a softball size exit. Seems to be a very accurate bullet as well. Found a load that will put 3 shots into 1.5 holes.

That's an unusually large exit. Very atypical.... Did it hit shoulder bone coming out?

I've watched 20-some deer get hit with either a TSX or TTSX from 7 mm Rem and 25-06 rifles. Only one was a problem, all the rest went no more than 50 yds before piling up.

I've also only recovered 3 of the rounds from a dead animal. As you might imagine, they were all recovered because they traveled quite a distance length-wise in the body cavity. Even after smashing ribs and spines the bullets look just like those in the advertisements. Perfectly mushroomed and retaining all the petals. Quality bullets!
