I recently have gotten in to mountain bikeing and my GSP loves to come with. A few weeks ago we went out and afterwards she had a little limp. I noticed the sides of the pads on her feet were fairly raw. I had her take it easy for a week and they were fine. Today we went out and a thin layer of skin on one of her front paws peeled all the way off. By the time we got back to the truck 2mi there was a little blood.
Has anybody else had these issue. She hunted with me all last fall and never had these issues. Granted hunting is much slower than biking. Will dogs build up calluses and tuffen up? I know people put boots on dogs in the winter would this be nessisary? I tried putting one of my socks over her paw and tying it. My socks floating down the Missouri now.
