My TacOps van, while incredibly tactical, rapey, stealthy and versitile, is getting high in the miles. Time to change to a tactical truck. I don't care about bells and whistles, don't tow much, mostly be tooling around suburban Gotham doing operator stuff like driving kids to school and sports with the occasional weekend hunting. Not a new truck, something 2 to 5 years old. 4 doors, 4 wheel drive, not gay. I'm cheap.

Talk me into a make...

Small pickups: nope.

Toyota: very bland and well made. Great resale. Little more expensive.

Chevy: Pretty. Little more expensive.

Dodge: HAHAHAHAHAHA! Nope.

Ford: Starting to lean towards Ford. There are more Fords around than anything else so it's easier to find a good deal. As much as I hate appeasing hippies, EcoBoost seems kinda neat. Or is it crap?

Nissan: Japan's Dodge. Nope.

SUVs lack sufficient cargo space for all of my tactical kit. I could go suburban, sequoia or armada but that becomes cost prohibitive.

I don't own an ecoboost but have talked to a few guys that say the ecoboost isn't worth it unless you need the extra towing, they say go with 5.0 instead.
But I wouldn't own a ford unless I got a great deal on one go with a newer(2014 and up) silverado with the 5.3 and 3.42 rear end.
You should be able haul a lot of your tactgear in one with the 6.5ft box and topper. (toppers are kinda gay but useful for these operations)

Avoid the 5.4 or the ecoboost in the F150s. Get the 5.0 if you get the ford. Solid body, lots and lots of cab room, great mileage, and get a 6.5 ft box, not that short one you cant haul manly shit in.

My 2015 Ecoboost is awesome. There are bad trucks/motors in all makes and models. I posted a picture in another truck thread about what it is capable of.

have yet to find a manufacturer that doesn't need a service department attached to EVERY dealership...

All trucks have there lemons and all have the ones that run forever. I have a 02 Silverado that I use for a work truck and I have beat the living crap out of that thing and it still runs good.

that used to work, but anymore i'd be surprised if you could find any truck that was "built" in any 1 country... most will say "assembled in" on the tag... most "american made vehicles", i would guess, have components coming from at least 6 countries and 3 continents...

For black ops and outrunning the cops: Buy an old Chevy van, paint it primer black, and then drop a chev 572 crate motor in her with tubbed slicks on the back.

P.S. Add NOS if dissatisfied with 621 hp on pump gas.

I agree with Ahab, bought 2014 ecoboost a year ago. To me the ride was better then every one else. MPG in ND sucks with it, the claimed MPG is attainable on roads like in mn where you average 50m/h. I love the power and when it's available with the eco. Ram and GM's were both nice but after many back t ok back to back test drives the Ford was the most comfortable.
