I test drove the Honda Pilot when I was looking for a new kid hauler. I thought it was a pretty sweet handling ride, comfortable, and the least expensive of the three I was seriously considering, that being the Explorer, Pilot, and 4Runner. I ended up going with the 4Runner, but that Pilot would have won out if it were even the slightest bit masculine.

We had a Pilot for a few years even towed a 20' bass boat behind it. Only issue is all those saftey features make them crumple like a tin can. I got rearended and the thing was totaled. The old Civic that hit me was still in commision.

Depending on how many people you plan on hauling. The new smaller SUV's with 2 captians chairs and then the third row seem pretty convienent. Im getting pretty close to getting the wife a new explorer. It can haul the kids and pull the boat. Not to mention the 3.5 ecoboost makes those scream!

We ended up picking up a toyota seinna for my wife. If it wasn't for the man care and it's lack of towing capacity I would be driving it. We have the 6 cyclinder and it gets right around 22-26 depending on wind and load. fits 4 kids comfortable and the dogs with 2 adults. has a jump seat for the 2nd row which allows up to seating for 8. I was very surprise by how much crap a person can put behind the 3rd row. Dual power sliding doors are awesome in a tighter 2 stall.

Oh man, Can you fit a lot of shit in them even just behind the third seat. I can't fit much in my Tahoe behind the back seat. If I take the back seats out of the Venture you can really pile shit in. Sometimes takes me a half hour to carry groceries in.

We are on our 2nd Dodge mini van and had a Plymouth Voyager before that. Have a 09 Caravan now with about 90K on it. Haven't had any major problems with any of them. I handed the Voyager down to my brother and I know he got it to over 200K before something bad happened. Wife likes the current one....stow and go seating is awesome. Gets around 22 mpg. We have had the door lock switches replaced as they quit working. I wish it was quieter inside when running down the high way.

We have an '09 Pilot. Love the ride. Handles well. Doesn't get the gas mileage that a van would. And not as much room behind the 3rd row. We only use the 3rd row when hauling extended family. Plenty of room for 2 kids, a large dog kennel and a bunch of other stuff if you only use the 2 rows. And I can pull the boat with it easily. It has about 87k on it and rarely a problem. Rented a Town and Country mini van down in Florida 2 years ago. Was a nice vehicle. Both my wife and I just struggle to drive a grocery getter though.
