I run an led light strip in the portable shanty. Wondering what others use. I'm completely happy with the setup, however may look into a dimmer switch, as it almost throws too much light.

What do you guys use to connect to the battery? I used an audio/video jack. I liked that it is one connector to connect, and insulated.

I've got a led strip up top and one in the sled. I used velcro straps to secure the wiring to the poles for the one up top. I built a small box that the wires from both lights and fan go into. This box also has a volt meter, 12v charger, usb charger, and a switch for each item. Everything is tied together and fused inside the box with just 1 set of power cords coming out with alligator clips. Underneath the box I put in one of those clam battery holders with a vexilar battery.

I've used these type of 2 way molded connectors. They are water resistant and fairly cheap. I don't remember where I got them, but they do have them on Amazon.

I did take note of all them power boxes and built one with 5 led pods and a phone charger and volt meter. it's nice cause I can grab it and go check tip-ups set it outside while packing up and will also be able to use it in the boat in the summer as well as around the camper

run a power inverter off a smaller 12v battery. Easy to run plug in LED strips and charge your phone when needed. and a cheap option. 12v battery with 15-40 amp hour capacity should suffice. Can also plug in a radio or whatever u want that doesn't run too high Watts.

Just try running one wrap of Red electrical tape across your whit LEDs and see if you like that. Then if you want more or less light just cover more or less of the LEDs.

Ran led strips in my portable 2 different times and in 2 different ways. Both broke almost immediately. I dont know if it was the cold or the cheap lights but I finally gave up. I broke down and bought an over priced clam light bar for 40 bucks and it works great. No more messing with a hot ass latern.

I did see scheels in fargo sells a little heavier duty led strip for a fish house for 15 or so bucks and if I'm not mistaken it was a local company? Something to check out if your looking for options.

I use a strip of green LED that I fed into a length of clear tubing. With the lights in the tubing the LED strip is protected and I can simply tuck it in between the poles of my hub and the fabric above. I wired in a barrel connector for the power supply and use an 8300 mAh lithium battery. To make it all water proof I shot a plug of silicone in each end of the tubing so the only thing sticking out is about 24" of wire with the connector. The battery only weighs about 1 #, has an on/off switch and a simple row of led lights to indicate battery charge. I hang the battery in the corner of the house that doesn't have a door (I hated having wires running down poles and needing another SLA, which I despise).

I just picked up a power cord for a CB radio (they fit into the power supply for a vex) from the local truck stop and will be experimenting this weekend with how long my lithium battery setup will power my vexilar. With the prices on 12v lithium batteries coming down significantly in the last year, I'd like to switch everything over to them as I just effing hate the weight of SLA and the fact that I seem to have to replace them every other year or so.

I noticed the light bar wiring in the new fish traps are junk. The beams bars are flexed and wiring is cut.

OK I just ordered myself that Beston light. I too needed something simple for the house. Thanks for the tip!
