I'm not a big football fan but I will take my kids fishing or hunting instead of watching this increasingly large podium for these freaks.

That is how I personally will object to these asshats shitting on the flag/veterans of the country I love. They will grow up not knowing what the NFL is until they can make the decision for themselves if they want to waste the time watching it.

I have a hard time believing the spectacle of the anthem before an NFL game is respecting anyone considering they charge the military/taxpayer to do it in the first place. It's a paid service the NFL offers. Time for the government to stop being a customer. A dozen years ago people looked at a flag in the distance if you were in the staduim, they played the Banner, and that was the end of it. People even shouted the wrong words at the end of it and everyone thought it was so cute. Anyone watching on tv didn't have a clue. If Trump or anyone else gave a shit they would remove the NFL's antitrust status that they shouldn't have in the first place and this could all be about football again.

I dont understand how kneeling with hand on heart is so bad. its not like they have there backs turned playing candy crush or running to get more beer, taking a piss ect.

All the things in the world going on and our orange faced leader of the free world spends his time being a twitter troll. #makeamericiagreatagain

There is a reason Chump hates the NFL ''In 1985, the USFL voted to move from a spring to a fall schedule in 1986 to compete directly with the NFL. This was done at the urging of New Jersey Generals majority owner Donald Trump and a handful of other owners as a way to force a merger between the leagues. As part of this strategy, the USFL filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the National Football League in 1986, and a jury ruled that the NFL had violated anti-monopoly laws. However, in a victory in name only, the USFL was awarded a judgment of just $1, which under anti-trust laws, was tripled to $3. This court decision effectively ended the USFL. The league never played the 1986 season, and by the time it folded, it had lost over US$163 million.''

Don Cheeto, President of the United States, is calling for a boycott of the NFL because players are expressing their first amendment rights and coaches and owners and the union are defending them. I don't know how this isn't a violation of the constitution.

We fight for FREEDOM.
You vill STAND and worship zee flag

What people fail to realize is that our flag is a symbol of the Constitution. Not the other way around.
Anyone calling for action to be taken against this protest is no patriot. They're actively shitting on the 1st amendment and the everything our Constitution stands for. And a 5-time draft dodger has the audacity to lecture others about patriotism. #blindsheep

Football is the new cigarette. You're addicted. I wonder what people would say if the NFL started supporting wife beating....oh wait.

or when your fav. team supports a guy who lashes his young sons back and groin... skol

I love football, i could careless if players stand or kneel i know there actions are not directed to the military...

In the 1960s and 1970s, black nationalist groups in the United States and elsewhere often used a dark-skinned clenched fist gesture or image as a "black power" symbol.

I have one name to drop into this conversation just to remember one of the greatest the league has ever seen.

Pat Tillman. Killed in the line of duty by "Friendly fire" before he could become a whistle blower on the Military industrial complex. Story has it he knew something big and was going to call it out right before he was killed by his own team.

There is no question a man like Pat Tillman would stand for the national anthem. Nor do I think he would agree with those that don't stand. But washing "conspiracy theories" of his death into the mix is no better than players bringing "inequalities" onto the football field. Neither has a place. I believe Pat Tillman was an All American badass who died as a result of friendly fire. What the government did to cover up his death is sickening. I also believe that the racism players are protesting about is real, yet I don't agree with how they are going about it. And I would bet Pat Tillman would stand up against those same injustices too.

The world we live in has blurred lines of what is appropriate & where. Never would politics or other issues been brought into a sport until now. Maybe it increases awareness, maybe it doesn't. But it sure makes a mess and causes divide. With the world we live in, the threats we face, I would hope that we would unite rather than divide.

If it weren't raining I'd be out enjoying the cool fall day rather than read all this and watch FB LOL!

No - what bothers most of us is the inability to have a civilized debate on this stuff. Yes, I'm biased and very conservative in my political views, but we appreciate people calling a spade a spade and not twisting selective reporting to meet a predetermined narrative. Where I've spent most of my life, "home slice" would've had a bloody nose by now, and not because of his/her views, but because of condescending lack of respect and civil discourse. FYI - I could care less about football too. Rant - carry on - or "keep hammering"

Jumping to a hanging analogy based on Caucasian or Eastern European lineage is exactly the lack of civil discourse I'm trying to describe. This is exactly why these conversations go NOWHERE- ever. Enjoy the rest of the thread. Cheers

Watched the Anthem at the start of the NASCAR race today. Didn't see any kneeling, however saw a little girl probably about 2 years of age standing very straight and tall with her Dad (one of the drivers) with her little hand over her heart. Made me kind of feel good.
