Advice if you have experience

I had my thyroid completely removed last Thursday due to multiple growths on it up to the size of a lemon. Pathology came up 2 spots possible cancer, but totally contained within the growths and nothing to worry about at this time. My question is if anybody has any experience with the removal of thyroid and experience or advice on management of this I am all ears. Yes I have doctors monitoring and advising but am a information junkie in these situations. Don't know how common this is but will listen to any experience. PM if you want instead of on forum. thanks BDub, I did start on meds right after surgery and hopefully the levels settle in and quickly and easily, just didn't know how touchy keeping the levels adjusted is. Just another medical routine to add to my growing list as my body try's to keep up with my abuse.

Thyroid can be managed with meds. My wife thyroid was basicly destroyed when she had radiation treatment for cancer in her saliva glands. That was 15 years ago and she has no thyroid problems just by using meds. Thank the Lord, she is still here to keep me in line.

I'm in the same situation. The female thyroid can be a roller coaster until they get the doses right.

A buddy had to have his destroyed. It went hyper and it buggered up his mood and he lost 50 pounds in short order. His meds have him back in good shape. I wish I had a dial on mine to adjust as needed;-)

Sorry to hear about you medical issues... my sister had a thyroid issue, I don't really know what, medical stuff makes my head hurt and me drink so I try to not think about, likely a bad long term plan...

Had a friend who had similar treatment and outcome. She must be on some sort of meds but it does not seem to be a big deal as she never mentions the meds. Really good friend so I'm pretty sure if there was an issue she would have mentioned it at least to my wife. I don't see that her spirits or activities have changed at all. Good Luck.
