On the radio they say it was a 15 yr old boy, shooting another 15 yr old boy and a 15 yr old girl. and that the shooter is going to be charged with murder and attempted murder.

Man, what a waste of lives.. Probably all over a broken heart.

I hate hearing about these things. Hopefully the media doesn't obsess about it to the point that its all we hear about again. That just seems to breed the idea for others

Well these are the kids that think it's fun to eat Tide Pods.

Such an awful deal. At least this time the shooter didn't suicide himself. I hope he gets tried as an adult and gets to meet some real thugs in prison.

If he shot multiple people, I suspect he was probably was picked on, just lost it, went on rampage. Seems to be the norm for kids that are less popular, bullied, just can't take the bullshit anymore, so they take it in there own hands.

Its a sad deal alright.

Since I"m on the subject of bullying, like to know from some of you parents on here, what would you do if heard your kid was bullying, taunting someone is school?

I was bullied when i was in elementary school and I fought back, I got picked on because I had hearing aids, but I let them know not to cross my path, I didn't give a crap if I got kicked out of school....lol

;:;popcorn Waiting to hear if the kid was on any antidepressants, if so it's Just a matter of time before the media does what it does best and ignore the fact that the Dr's caused another mass shooting by prescribing another SSRI drug but lay the blame on the guns.

Told my kid dont do it. He is a 6'2" as a 6th grader so he had a problem with older kids thinking he is older and put a whopping on him a year ago asked why he didnt fight back was scarred to get in trouble. Then had the you defend your self i will take care of the school talk. Was it a good thing that happened to him no but some times i think we shield our kids from adversity so much these days when bad stuff happens they cant handle it or deal with it.

I don't know if I would consider my youngest (5th grader) a bully but we found out on a couple occasions that he said some things that were a bit mean. We had a sit down with him and let him know that if we found out that he did it again, it wasn't going to be good for him, then we grounded him for a few weeks.

See the problem is the media.... allot of these kids wouldn't even know what a school shooting was unless they saw it from the news..... almost like it teaches kids that are being picked on that the only thing to do is go shoot your enemies rather than give them an old fashioned can of whoop ass in the wheat field. At least no one usually dies from a can of whoop ass

bully is no excuse -- i seriously doubt that all those kids shot at bullying the kid. Again parents that dont know how to parent and a kids that do not have a faith.

agree -- plus i think its more than media - video games, movies, tv shows .... list goes on.

Between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, in order that those who would pass from here to you may not be able, and none may cross from there to us

these kids are numb to it --- they cant separate the real world from the world of media

Not only bad parenting..... but parents that don't participate in their kids lives...

I think it is a combination of things. I think part of it is the media coverage plants the idea into kid’s minds. I also feel that we have an epidemic of disengaged parents and soft parenting. There are no real consequences at home. Bottom line is hurt people, hurt people. We need to acknowledge more positives and ensure all of our kids are valued. We also need to be stern with consequences when they step out of line. There was something that this kid was troubled over, and he didn’t feel valued. Yet people were to distracted to help him. I’ll say it again..... hurt people, hurt people.

This is spot on. While I agree there are more and more factors that affect kids these days, including social media, the media coverage, technology, video games, etc. the bottom line is pretty well stated above. Kids today DO NOT handle adversity well. Lots of reasons for it, but I see it everyday. Bad things happen in life, no matter what, and it is all about how you react to them. I'm not advocating sitting and taking it- I am saying we don't empower our kids to step up and deal with something in a real life manner. Kids who bully should get their butts kicked (by parents and the other kids), and those who get bullied should stand up and take action. But kids don't fear their parents at all and kids don't feel supported enough to take action. Sad state of affairs....

Prayers to all those involved!

Agree with a can of whoop ass, but as a society we are pussyfying our kids so much. As freshmen in high school we had a thug that would do shit to us like taping our hair or shaving our heads in the locker room, 4 of us ganged up on his big ass and put the hurt on him so good he never even looked at us for the rest of the year. Do that now and we would have been at the police station. There aren't any consequences in school either, what happened to in school suspension where you sat in a room with windows so everyone could look at you in the penalty box? Hell we had corporal punishment in grade school and my folks signed the letter for all of us boys so we were fair game, that fricken meter stick hurt like a bastard!

I told my kid to always stick up for kids who get bullied. It's more than defending yourself, its about protecting others who need a ally. I would be proud as hell if my kid got in trouble for beating up a bully that was picking on a defenseless kid. That's an extreme case when all it would take is sticking up verbally. I blame bad kids on solely bad parenting.
