but I love trying to solve the puzzle on my own for at least half the outing or all day if I’m alone

Get in more trips to Sak in October. Also, concentrate on some shallow water fishing on the lake. 10' and under. That is an area of the water column I struggle to catch fish in on Sak.

Oh, but it can be so fun... Fish that come out of 5 ft of water sure make me smile.

I always had my best luck catching walleyes on the hammered silver/orange or hammered gold/orange spoons.
Good luck. You never know what your going to catch casting spoons.

I’m gonna make a conscious effort to fish new water in lakes that I’m very familiar with. Even if I know I can go here or there and catch fish. A guy gets stuck in a rut of fishing the same places on the same lakes when there may be an even better spot right around the corner.

Eyes can also be caught on mepps spinners, when pitching. And they cast well, even in the wind. Much better than a crankbait.
