Does this guy not understand that you are actually supposed to use some kind of bait to attract the mouse/rat?

My mom told me yesterday they had two rattlers they killed in their "yard" on Wednesday. She wasn't happy with their presence, I have never run across a rattler at their place.

Where's MSA when we need him? I am curious as to what kind of rattler that is, and I while I am probably wrong...it doesn't look like what I thought a timber rattlesnake looked like.

It would appear to be a small diamondback if my Google sleuthing skills are useful. Which is not a snake MN-DNR has listed for Minnetucky.

Two traps at once is a he'll of a maneuver as well.

Here is a Timber rattler that passed thru our fish camp in southeastern minnesota...

They have migrated all the way up the mississippi to Hudson wisc, they hang in the river bluffs and visit the new neighborhoods over looking the river in fall sunning themselves on driveways.

Anyone have a place a guy can go hunt one close to Bismarck? I have been looking for a decent rattle for a while now. I want to inlay one into the handle of an antler hunting knife.

Allen,me thinks there was a caging mouse that was keen to the traps and lured this snake into the trap line,lol...thats my story and sticking to it.

Ever see how fast a deer mouse can run? some beeches are so fast its like a blur

Many years ago they used to have annual rattlesnake roundups SW of Bismarck somewhere. Not sure, but I'd guess they cleaned out that population. Doesnt take much once the densites are found.

I’ll give you the privilege of spending the summer fencing on the ranch in western ND. If you kill it you have to eat it also.

It would be way more badass if you wrangled it yourself, but you can buy them on eBay.

Any rattlesnake that gets in my way becomes "Camp Meat". Top 10 wild game shishkabob meats I've ever had. The backstraps make perfect chunks of meat to go between the veggies and when you dip them in butter and grill over an open fire. Damn that's good eats. Now I'm hungry. Good thing it Elk Steaks for dinner tonight.

We spent a couple of days in Nevada's Great Basin. That place has sure got the rattlesnakes. One camper said he changed campsites because of to many rattlesnakes. He said he was only seeing one a day at the campsite we were in. Evidently the Great Basin Rattlesnake is a species only found there.
