i'll keep some bigger fish about once or twice a year. Usually with guys that want meat and that's all we are catching. Then i will go out by myself or with buds that don't really care about meat and release all fish in good shape. It works out in the wash. i've cleaned a few derby/tourney fish(27-29 inches) and they were delicious with all the red meat trimmed off. even grilled a 29" and it had big, delicious flakes of white meat. Not endorsing it at all as i like to let them go as much as the next guy, but it isn't the end of the world and they don't taste bad.

I don't get on people for keeping big fish. Keep what you want but you won't in my boat.
