Actually compared to most years they are doing pretty good for this early. Anytime coal creek is open before Christmas is a good start to the year. I was pleasantly surprised when we were there a couple weekends ago.

How is highway 2 at the end of January? I know it depends on weather at the time, but is it good most of the time if its not snowing?

Its all a complete crapshoot, Its fine if there are no storms or high wind. I think I've driven every possible way to Whitefish trying to avoid bad roads, just pay attention to the MDT map.

HWY 2 is the quickest way to Whitefish if the roads are good.
