I've tried mittens and heavy gloves with wool inserts and still can't keep my fingers from going numb when outside blowing snow. I saw these on Facebook for 35 bucks. Scheels carries some for $140. I don't really want to use the disposable hand warmers every time it snows

Any way to put handwarmers on your blower. I have a JD with hand warmers and my hands have never been cold.

I think its the vibration of the blower that causes less blood flow in the fingers then being colder than norm don't help.

I have an older Toro snowblower. It doesn't have a generator so I can't hook up a light or hand warmers. Guess I'll just have to buy a bunch of the chemical hand warmers and use those.

Sounds like a perfect time to tell the wife you will be buying a new snowblower! :;:thumbsup

Nope, it's the "holding on tightly to something metal". Try holding tightly onto a hammer for half an hour in cold weather, or a ladder rung, or a cable.

A lot of modern snowmobiles have heated grips, and boy are they nice.

Honestly, the best mitts I've ever had are some big black leather chopper mitts from Menards, circa 1990's. I've spent a stupid amount of money on winter clothing, and those big ugly mitts have never let me down.

The thumbs are all chewed up from pike. Wanna pull a pike out of a hole? Stick your thumb in his mouth and when he bites (and he will) just pull. Out he comes.

Heated gloves are the best invention for those who have damaged hands cuased by broke bones, smashed fingers or poor circulation cuased by age. I bought a pair of gyde heated gloves which are best becuase they are not as bulky as regular winter gloves you would need to be wearing becuase thinner ones wouldn't keep your hands warm.

Careful where you buy them $35.00 gloves from, they most likely will come from China on a slow boat, I bought 2 pairs and it took a little over 2 months to get them

If you google it there are many recipes to make your own chemical hand warmers , Calcium Chloride and water is all it is . Cement crews use it at 2% by volume and it gets warmer than heck. Sidewalk ice melt has CC in it. Markup on those little packets must be 99% .

Lycan, This little tidbit should be right up your alley :)

Anyone find a good pair of light heated ones for bow hunting? I can keep them warm in my pockets with warmers and such, but as soon as they come out I'm screwed. I had a deer come in this year close quarters and had to hold my bow with release clipped on for around 20 minutes. My God does 15-20 degree aluminum and wind freeze you quick. Long story short, got busted, deer left and I had to leave as my hands were numb and in pain. Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated.

calcium chloride is pretty much not used any more as it is corrosive to the rebar. It is now different forms of NC accelerator and it really does not cause heat it causes the cement to hydrate which by that chemical process it releases heat IE chemical heaters. We use it from any where .5% per yard to 2% depending on temp of concrete and ambient air temp. It will fuck up any thing leather that it touches really really fast.
